Overview of the Personal Coaching approach

We start with an intake interview. After that, we formulate a goal in order to have a direction in which we can work during the coaching series. The program consists of several sessions, depending on the subject. A session is basically a face to face conversation, but when distance is an issue, phone conversations will do fine. In between sessions you will work on some homework assignments so that you can put your new insights into practice and integrate them into your life.

Situation at the start of the journey

NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) assumes that people have feelings and experiences as a result of ideas and beliefs that they actively maintain. Actively maintaining this is an unconscious act that is performed because of the 'programs' in the unconscious part of our own consciousness.These programs 'filter' the way we see ourselves, the world and our possibilities.
The result is sometimes perceived as an undesirable habit or adverse reaction to a given situation (eg, phobias or depression).

Apart from the obvious negative programs that lead to phobias, excessive alcohol or smoking, a specific combination of programs also lead to undesirable effects. It often happens that one filter is "sabotaging" another, which makes that people feel as if they have absolutely no grip on their feeling or on thesituation, and any attempt at improving it or achieving a goal appears to fail. The result is that people believe that they have no free choice in what they can feel or experience, or they feel that they have no free choice in situations where they end up, or that they think they have only limited choice in being the person they can be or become.

NLP Intervention

The power of NLP coaching is that the client becomes aware that he actively maintains every feeling and every circumstance himself, and that he therefore has freedom of choice. The way to make the client aware of this freedom of choice, is to make him experience the way how he maintains his unconscious convictions and adverse reactions. This is called the 'strategy'. A strategy may be the visualization of images, internal hearing or feeling of sounds and emotions or an internal conversation, all of which always happen in the same manner. After becoming aware of the strategies and the freedom of choice, one can deliberately chose for the desired situation using specific NLP methods which program a different, more effective strategy. It is often difficult for the client to describe the desired situation really in detail because they have put a mental taboo on it for a long time. A NLP coach can support this process. Sometimes the desired position is clear but an internal conflict of values affect one of the steps that need to be made to achieve the goal, but that can also be transformed by using insight-giving methods.

A fast track

The power of NLP coaching is particularly the speed and effectiveness with which problems can be solved. Where regular coaches and psychotherapists would give client sessions dozens of sessions, sometimes even for years, many problems can be quickly remedied with NLP. If serious mental disorders are found to occur, it is always advisable to turn to a medical specialist. The reason for this is that NLP coaching is not therapy.

The difference between coaching and therapy

Coaching and therapy overlap each other slightly, but basically therapy is for overcoming psychological problems, while coaching is aimed at achieving your goals within a given context. Coaching should normally be about future. The goal in coaching is not to repair or disclose the past, but to discover the possibilities in the present and future, in with the past is considered part of the context and is just discussed briefly. NLP achieves this by using all sorts of methods to make the client as fully as possible aware of what is taking place in the here and now in his conscious and unconscious internal and external processes (thinking and behavior).

In the personal coaching track, I tune completely in on you and your question.
The track will be 'custom made', but is based on NLP and NLP coaching methods.Depending on the issues that you bring in, we will be working on your successful achievement of one or more desired outcomes.The first step is a phone interview, in which we get acquainted with each other and which will give me a first impression of your coaching question.

Additional therapeutic methods

Depending on the desired goal and the roots of the issue to be resolved, i can propose additional methods next to NLP, which can be used to get optimal success. These can be therapeutic methods that can be supporting in the context of the the coaching sessions, like body-oriented psychotherapy, in which attention is given to behavioral patterns that relate to physical stresses (eg in breathing). As mentioned above, there is a difference (and an overlap) between therapy and coaching, and in the initial intake I will discuss with the client the best approach.
